David Gerard McDonald


David G. McDonald was born in 1964 and raised on a farm in Northeast Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University in 1987.

In 1987, Mr. McDonald joined OSI Industries, a multi-national food processing company which currently has more than 65 facilities in 17 countries (www.osigroup.com).  When he began his career at OSI, Mr. McDonald held the position of Project Manager.  His primary responsibility was to expand OSI’s business internationally with his focus being on Latin America and Asia. Over the years, he has continued to expand his responsibilities and currently holds the position of President and Chief Operating Officer.  Mr. McDonald also serves on the Board of Directors for OSI Industries and many of its Group companies. In addition, Mr. McDonald held a seat on Board of Directors of Marfrig Alimentos S/A in Brazil, one of the largest fully integrated protein companies in the world. Mr. McDonald is also the immediate past Chairman of the American Meat Institute, the meat industry’s largest association.  In January 2015, he became the first Chairman of the North American Meat Institute, which is the new entity merging the American Meat Institute and North American Meat Association. Mr. McDonald remains an active member of the Executive Board of the North American Meat Institute.

Mr. McDonald was married in 1991 and has six children. He is also involved with his community and church.  He has served as a member of the St. Michael School Board and is an active participant in the St. Michael Parish. In addition, Mr. McDonald remains active in various events and activities sponsored by Iowa State University. Mr. McDonald’s spare time is centered around his family and the activities of his children.
